Analyses of continuity sequence

The first shot is a medium shot with the character of Louis going through the door. We angled the camera 35 degrees off. We had the natural lightening and correctly exposed this shot. the shot became with a straight cut and in other situation, this would be a fade in.

We then straight cut with a match on action to the second shot. This showed Louis coming through the door from both angles and this followed the continuity rules as the 180 rules wasn't broke as we stayed on the line which means the action wasn't flipped. We also used the ripple tool to make sure that the shots crossed over at when he was entering the door. There was a mistake within the background of the shot as i can be seen slightly in it.

We then straight cut to the hallway in a long shot which establishes were Jake and Louis are to each other. Louis comes into the scene off camera while Jake is already walking towards the camera. This shot could have been focused better as the focus was out. There was also a break within the 180 degree rule here due to the location of our scene. There was also a problem with the lightening as the shot was under exposed. This was still an effective scene as we saw the characters meet and we established them within the environment.

The shot is also a straight cut to a close up of Jake and Louis bumping within the corridor. This a match on action as the last shot ended with them about to collide and the close up continues that narrative. There is more continuity errors as the shot is brighter and Louis and Jake have changed clothes.

It then straight cuts to Jake against the wall and him chasing after the Louis. This shot doesn't work as the cut makes it jumpy and breaks the continuity. The shot would have been better if it was continuous and this meant the jump cut wouldn't need to be there. The rest of the shot however then goes from a close up to a long shot as the characters are moving away from the camera. There are parts that work like the comedy aspects but the way this was shot could have been done smoother.

We then straight cut to them running around the corner which is another match on action as we see them running around the corner and then cut to see them coming round the corner. This is a medium shot as we see the full body of Louis coming into frame.

We then straight cut with a match on action to see a medium close up of Louis' face. This is identification as we see his reaction and feel the emotion and fear he has after being chased. This is effective as the narrative and its build look like there is going to be a fight within the small space. Louis is also looking off camera.

We then straight cut to a eye line match to see what Louis was looking at. We see Jake within the frame. This also a shot reverse shot as the camera angle came off at the same point of the 180 degree rule. This is effective as it creates tension and suspense that adverts the audience and their expectations as they believe conflict is going to happen.

We then straight cut to a close up of their hands embracing as they hug each other. this had adverted the expectations of the audience of the conflict that could have happened between the two characters. We then fade to black with them embracing as friends.
